Columbia River: water conditions above the mouth of Lewis River are very good with 3-4ft visibility. The catch rates for Springers has increased dramatically fro Cathlamet to Vancouver. This time of year I like to focus my attention on this system around Vancouver to mouth of Lewis. This part of the River has tons of holding water or otherwise known as staging water. Method of choice: trolling Herring cured in Zilla Bait. I like cut plug to whole herring down trolled down River. The key is to work your rods up and down, always maintains bottom contact….
Columbia River: Water levels are running normal for this time of year with 3-4 feet visibility. I can not get over how many Spring Chinook are in the Columbia this time of year which reminds me of the old days when the smelt entered the River the Springers cam with them. On a side note there have been descent numbers of Springers caught from Vancouver to Cathlamet. Method of choice, Down River trolling, that’s our speciality. Lewis River: high and green but not much fish reported….
