Columbia River: water conditions above the mouth of Lewis River are very good with 3-4ft visibility. The catch rates for Springers has increased dramatically fro Cathlamet to Vancouver. This time of year I like to focus my attention on this system around Vancouver to mouth of Lewis. This part of the River has tons of holding water or otherwise known as staging water. Method of choice: trolling Herring cured in Zilla Bait. I like cut plug to whole herring down trolled down River. The key is to work your rods up and down, always maintains bottom contact.
Lewis River: just a few small steelhead around, water levels are extremely high.
Kalama River: Flows are very good, a good number of steelhead being caught with a occasional Springer. Keep a eye out for this system as it will be getting good numbers of Springers back to it and the limit increased to 2 hatchery spring chinook.
Cowlitz River: Fishing is very good for the B-Run of winter steelhead, Method of choice side drifting eggs cured in ZILLA Bait. Remember if the water levels are high shorten your leaders.
Chehalis System: Plunking has been phenomenal for the bank anglers, The boat guys that were plunking have put a few fish in there boats as well.
Humptulips River: Blown out
Wynochee River: Very High with a occasional wild steelhead being caught. There are also a bunch of down streamers as Well.
Satsop River: Main stem is blown out, the east fork fished ok with mostly wild steelhead caught. Method of choice, Float and eggs, float and jigs.
Skookumchuck River: Fishing has been very good, strong numbers have been reported back to the hatchery and anglers catch rates have increased. Focus on the hatchery hole to the deadline at the base of the spill way. Methods used, float and beads, Float and jigs in night mare patterns.
