Columbia River: High and green with about 2-3 feet of visibility. There is a ton of smelt in the river as well as a few Spring Chinook. I would definitely focus around the Holding flats from Kalama to Mouth of Lewis River all the way up to Vancouver. Method of choice. Troll Herring with a 1 foot dropper and make sure you shorten your leaders up 4-5ft, You want to tap the bottom every 5 seconds or so to keep it in the Zone.
Lewis River: High and dirty green, Not many fish reported but a few Wild Steelhead.
Kalama River: High and dirty with a occasional steelhead.
Cowlitz River: High and Green 2-4 foot of visibility, There is definitely a fair number of winter steelhead and a occasional Springer. Method of choice: Side Drifting Roe cured with #zillabait. Defiantly focus around the Hatcheries where the fish are going to hold.
Chehalis System: High and muddy, The plunkers are doing well from Oakville to Mouth of Wynochee. Main bait of choice Spin and glows with sand shrimp.
Humptulips River: No reports of Hatchery fish being caught but a ton of wild steelhead are in the system and spread through out. Method of choice, Side drifting spoons and giant pink worms.
Wynochee River: High and grey green with about 2 feet of visibility, There are a ton of Steelies in this system. Method of choice, Side drifting roe cured in Zilla Bait. Bobber dogging roe, as well as jigs.
Satsop River: High and dirty but the east fork has some visibility. Side drifting, Float and eggs are the ticket.
Skookumchuck River: High and green, Lots of Steelies in this system, Focus on the upper stretch from hatchery to the deadline. Float and Jigs a as well as float and Beads. Check out www.luredbythebead.com the best beads on the market!
Newakum River: a very tiny little River system, Color is green and tons of Steelies but minimal access. I mentioned before to bring the whole kitchen sink with you here. As it all works at different times.
