Willamette River: fishing in the port has been good in the deep water, the channel has been fishing better from Fred’s to St Helens. Trolling herring down river cured in Zilla Bait has been the ticket.
Columbia River: this is the last week of fishing the main stem of Big C, there is Springers through out the whole river. We are focusing our efforts from I-5 to 62. We are trolling herring down River and fishing on the bottom. Keep in mind if your not fishing the bottom chances are your not caching.
Cowlitz River: this system is lights out for steelhead and Springers. Back trolling has been good but most guys are side drifting eggs around the trout hatchery! If your going to target Springers either focus up high by the salmon hatchery or low by the mouth of toutle.
Kalama River: fishing has been outrageous for this little Sytsem, large amounts of spring chinook have entered the River and the limit is 2 hatchery Springers per person. You can catch them back trolling plugs, bait. Or you can back bounce them with fresh cured eggs and sand shrimp. Float and bait works well also.
